Scandrol, Cummings Make AMCC All-Conference Team in Women's Cross Country

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced that Penn State Altoona freshman Melissa Scandrol (South Park, PA/South Park) and sophomore Kristen Cummings (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood) were selected to its All-Conference Team in women's cross country on Monday.


Scandrol was the top runner for the Lady Lions in four of the five events she participated in during the 2011 season. She posted her best time of the season in the 6K on September 24 in the Saint Vincent College Invitational, when she finished in 22:25. She also finished 12th in the AMCC Championship on October 29 with a time of 27:50.


Cummings ran in all seven races for Penn State Altoona this season, leading her squad in four of them. Her best 6K time of the year was also on September 24 in the Saint Vincent Invitational, when she clocked in at 23:32. In the AMCC Championship, she came in 16th place in 28:06.


Cummings also earned an AMCC Women's Runner of the Week award for her performance in October 22's Hood College Open, when she placed 14th with a time of 28:08.3.
