Men's Basketball Loses 83-57 to Hilbert in Season Finale

HAMBURG, N.Y. - In their final game of the 2011-2012 season, the Penn State Altoona men's basketball team was defeated 83-57 by Hilbert College on Saturday at the Hafner Recreation Center.

Durant Harvin (Baltimore, MD/Franklin) led the Lions with 12 points.

John Brennan (Philadelphia, PA/St. John Neumann-Goretti) added nine points, seven rebounds and three assists for Penn State Altoona.

Hilbert came out strong and took control of the game early in the first half. Dan McFarland's fastbreak layup at 13:09 gave the Hawks a 21-10 lead.

Meanwhile, the home team's defense proved to be smothering, holding the Lions scoreless for a streak of seven minutes and 50 seconds midway through the first half.

Chris Hoak's three-pointer at the 8:00 mark increased Hilbert's advantage to 32-10.

In the second half, Mitch Moyer's (Port Matilda, PA/Bald Eagle) three-pointer cut Penn State Altoona's deficit to 42-29 at 18:48.

But the Hawks went on to lead by as much as 30 points, ending the Lions' season on a sour note.
