Women's Bowling Clinches Third Place in State Championships
ALTOONA, Pa. - After the second day of competition, the Penn State Altoona women's bowling team finished in third place in the 2012 Pennsylvania State Women's Bowling Championships at Holiday Bowl.
Kutztown University won the event, while Saint Francis University placed second. Cheyney University and Lincoln University picked up fourth and fifth places, respectively.
After five rounds of traditional team matches on Saturday, Sunday featured three rounds of best-of-seven baker format. The teams were seeded into a bracket based on the previous day's total pinfall per school.
In the first round on Sunday, the Lady Lions faced Cheyney and lost 4-2. The team bounced back with a 4-2 win over Lincoln in the second round before beating Cheyney 4-1 in the final round to seal third place.
