Lady Lions Defeat Pitt-Bradford 1-0, Will Play Behrend for AMCC Title

ERIE, Pa. - #2 seed Penn State Altoona softball needed just one run to defeat #6 Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon at Behrend Field. The Lady Lions won 1-0 and earned a shot at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship on Sunday.

Penn State Altoona will face #1 seed Penn State Behrend at 10:00 AM. Because the tournament is based on double elimination rules, Penn State Altoona must defeat Penn State Behrend twice tomorrow since Behrend has not yet lost in the tournament.

Jackie Smith (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) threw a complete game shutout for the Lady Lions, striking out six batters in seven innings and allowing only two hits and three walks.

The Lady Lions scored the game's only run in the bottom of the second inning. Kelly Chambers (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a walk, and came around to score on a Pitt-Bradford error.

Chambers finished the game 2-for-2 with a run scored and a walk for Penn State Altoona.
