NFCA Names Chambers to All-Region Team

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its 2012 Division III Softball All-Region Teams on Monday, and Penn State Altoona freshman first baseman Kelly Chambers (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) earned a spot on the Third Team of the All-East Region.

Last week, Chambers was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Newcomer of the Year and also took First Team All-Conference honors.

Chambers is one of just two AMCC players named to the All-East Region squads this year, the other being Mount Aloysius College's Jalisa Westover, who was also a Third Team pick.

Chambers proved to be one of the elite hitters in the AMCC, leading the conference in hits (64), runs scored (43), doubles (19), home runs (10), and total bases (113). She finished first on her team and second in the conference with 51 runs batted in.

Chambers' 64 hits and 19 doubles in 2012 marked new single season highs for Penn State Altoona softball, and her 10 home runs and 51 RBIs tied all-time season highs.
