Women's Soccer Falls 3-1 at Medaille
9/22/2012 — BUFFALO, N.Y. - Penn State Altoona women's soccer opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference competition on Saturday evening against Medaille College and lost 3-1 at All High Stadium.
Medaille got on the board first at 20:16 when Candis Kapuscinski scored.
The Lady Mavericks' Katie Botsford added a goal 5:20 into the second half to give the home team a 2-0 lead.
Penn State Altoona got on the board just 3:39 later when Kaitlyn Joerger (Stuart, FL/Martin County) scored her first goal of the season off of a pass from Katy Hartigan (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby) to cut Medaille's lead to 2-1.
Joerger's goal snapped a scoreless streak of 521:54 by the team which dated back to September 2.
But a penalty kick situation nearly 15 minutes later allowed Medaille's Alyssa Unterborn to score, increasing the Lady Mavericks' lead to 3-1.
Penn State Altoona goalkeeper Katy Cook (Hollsopple, PA/Bishop McCort) made six saves in goal for her team.
