Women's Volleyball Opens AMCC Play Versus Behrend, Medaille
9/23/2012 — STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team began its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon with a pair of losses to Penn State Behrend and Medaille College during a quad match played at Franciscan University.
Behrend defeated the Lady Lions 3-1, with the game scores being 25-14, 25-10, 20-25, and 25-20. In the team's second match of the day, they lost 3-0 to Medaille by scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-20.
In the two matches, Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) had a team-high 12 kills and six total blocks, also adding 21 digs.
Emily Frye (Etters, PA/Red Land) led the squad with 26 digs.
Moira Corrigan (Havertown, PA/Haverford) contributed 11 kills and five total blocks.
Marina Cotarelo (North Salem, NY/John F. Kennedy Catholic) had 10 kills and 33 set assists.
