Women's Soccer Downed 2-1 at Mount Aloysius

10/9/2012 — CRESSON, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team lost 2-1 to nearby Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday afternoon.

Penn State Altoona held advantages over the Lady Mounties in several statistical categories during the game. The Lady Lions had more corner kicks by a notable 7-1 margin. They also outshot Mount Aloysius 8-7, including 7-4 in shots on goal.

But the home team got on the scoreboard first on Megan Parker's goal at 15:03.

Penn State Altoona tied the game 1-1 11:16 later when Nicole Zambelli (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) scored her first goal of the season.

But Mount Aloysius came up with the decisive goal shortly before halftime, when Mackenzie Horne scored at the 42:34 mark to make it 2-1.

Lady Lions goalkeeper Mackenzie Strubhar (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) made two saves in the loss.

Mount Aloysius' win marked its first-ever victory over Penn State Altoona women's soccer in 10 all-time meetings.
