Lions' Offensive Outburst Keys 5-1 Win at Mount Aloysius
10/9/2012 — CRESSON, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's soccer team scored a season-high number of goals on Tuesday afternoon when they defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mount Aloysius College 5-1.
The Mounties scored one minute into the second half on Patrick Chea's goal to take a 1-0 lead.
But Penn State Altoona reeled off five unanswered goals throughout the rest of the game.
Karl Stephan (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional) tied the game 1-1 with his goal, which was assisted by Garrett Storm (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley). Six minutes later, Mike Robinson (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) gave the Lions a 2-1 lead with his score.
Dan Kennedy (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) increased Penn State Altoona's lead to 3-1 when he scored his first goal of the season.
Cody Beach (South Williamsport, PA/South Williamsport) tacked two more goals onto the Lions' total later in the period, giving Penn State Altoona a commanding 5-1 lead. For Beach, the scores were the first of his collegiate career. Kennedy recorded an assist on each of Beach's goals.
Aaron Ballish (Apollo, PA/Kiski) started in goal for the Lions and made one save, earning his first win of the year.
Penn State Altoona held advantages of 15-4 in total shots attempted and 7-1 in corner kicks.
