Lantz's Late Goal Gives Lady Lions 3-2 Win
10/17/2012 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona freshman Arianna Lantz (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) scored the go-ahead goal for her team at the 86:08 mark, helping the Lady Lions to a 3-2 win over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Franciscan University on Wednesday at Spring Run Stadium.
Franciscan got on the scoreboard first when Ashley Ruttencutter scored after a deflection in the goal box 5:18 into the game.
Penn State Altoona tied the game 1-1 on Theresa Deppenschmidt's (New Hope, PA/New Hope-Solebury) score at 23:44.
Katy Hartigan (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby) put the Lady Lions out in front 2-1 when she scored off a rebound at 34:02.
In the second half, Ruttencutter tied the game for the Lady Barons when she converted on a penalty kick at 69:22, recording her second goal of the contest.
But Lantz notched the decisive goal at 86:08, ripping a shot past the goalkeeper from the right side of the field just outside the penalty box.
Mackenzie Strubhar (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) made six saves to record the win in goal for Penn State Altoona.
