Lions Win Fourth Straight, Beating Franciscan 6-0
10/17/2012 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's soccer notched its fourth straight win on Wednesday evening, defeating Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Franciscan University 6-0 at Spring Run Stadium.
Nick Holland (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) put the Lions up 1-0 at 28:21, rifling a shot from the left side of the box to score.
Just over two minutes later, Quinn Oyler (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) made it 2-0 when he took a pass at the edge of the box and pulled the trigger just in front of the goal box.
Mike Robinson (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) and Karl Stephan (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional) added to the Lions' lead shortly after halftime, scoring goals at 48:57 and 50:44 to double their team's advantage.
Dan Kennedy (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) and Brian Moore (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) added goals later in the period to increase Penn State Altoona's lead to 6-0.
Brandon Moss (Springfield, NJ/Jonathan Dayton) made two saves for the shutout win, his team's second in a row.
Penn State Altoona posted big advantages over Franciscan in shots (22-6), shots on goal (16-2), and corner kicks (8-1).
The win clinched a berth into the AMCC Tournament for Penn State Altoona, which currently sits in fifth place in the conference.
