Men's Cross Country Places Third, Women's Team Finishes Fifth at Hood Open

THURMONT, Md. - Penn State Altoona men's cross country came in third place out of 10 teams, and the Lady Lions squad finished in fifth place out of eight teams in Saturday's Hood College Open at Utica Park.

The men's team finished with a team score of 84 in the 8K race, and the women tallied a score of 109 in the 6K.

Jacob Dean (Shade Gap, PA/Southern Huntingdon) led the men's squad, placing ninth individually out of 78 runners with a time of 29:12.1.

Dean was followed closely by Jason Anna (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock), who came in 11th place with a time of 29:19.9.

Garrett Webster (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) finished 19th in 30:14.1, and Ryan Gallagher (Altoona, PA/Altoona) was next, placing 20th in 30:15.5.

For the Lady Lions, Patricia Mantero (San Juan, PR/Academia del Perpetuo Socorro) finished in eighth place out of 84 runners with a time of 27:33.2.

Missy Scandrol (South Park, PA/South Park) earned 15th place with a time of 28:28.9.

Macy Yingling (Bedford, PA/Bedford) secured 18th by clocking in at 28:52.6.
