Men's and Women's Swimming Opens Season With Fourth Place Finish at Pitt-Bradford Relays

BRADFORD, Pa. - On Saturday, Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming opened its 2012 schedule at the Pitt-Bradford Relays, finishing in fourth place with 78 points in the combined men's and women's team results.

Penn State Altoona's best performances came in the men's and women's mixed events.

In the Mixed 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, Penn State Altoona came in second place with a time of 1:40.29. The squad consisted of Mary Elizabeth McCulloch (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle), Daniel Fritsch (State College, PA/State College), Maria Thompson (Altoona, PA/Altoona), and Kyle Huber (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove).

Penn State Altoona's team of Robert Sklodowski (Bialystok, Poland/Quince Orchard), Keenan Halpin (Bensalem, PA/George School), McCulloch, and Courtney Pinckney (Brookyln, NY/Brooklyn College Academy) placed fourth in the Mixed 400 Yard Medley Reverse Relay, clocking in at 4:37.34.

In the Mixed 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, McCulloch, Nick Adcock (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland), Thompson, and Jonathan Delli Santi (Kenilworth, NJ/Academy for Allied Health and Sciences) helped Penn State Altoona to a fourth place finish in the event in 3:56.10.

In the Men's 300 Yard Breaststroke Relay, the squad of Owen Welch (Lewistown, PA/Mifflin County), Max Sullivan (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park), Benjamin Porter (West Chester, PA/Unionville), and Jay Wareham (Leesburg, VA/Loudon County) came in third with a total time of 3:21.04.
