Pitt-Greensburg Edges Women's Volleyball 3-1
10/24/2012 — GREENSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's volleyball lost a tightly-contested match 3-1 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday night at Chambers Hall.
The home team claimed the first set by a 25-23 margin, but the Lady Lions bounced back to tie the match with a 25-15 win in set two. However, Pitt-Greensburg responded with a 25-16 win in the third set and a narrow 25-23 victory in the fourth to wrap up the match.
Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) led Penn State Altoona with 13 kills and 11 solo blocks.
Amanda Hammer (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) posted nine kills and eight digs.
Emily Frye (Etters, PA/Red Land) led the squad with 13 digs, while Becky Britton (Northern Cambria, PA/Northern Cambria) added 10 more.
Marina Cotarelo (North Salem, NY/North Salem) had a team-best 20 set assists.
