Lady Lions Volleyball Knocked Out of AMCC Tourney, Losing 3-0 to Pitt-Bradford
11/1/2012 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Last Saturday, Penn State Altoona women's volleyball clinched the #4 seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 3-0 win against Pitt-Bradford at home. But on Thursday evening, #5 seed Pitt-Bradford turned the tables on the Lady Lions with a 3-0 win in the Adler Gym to eliminate Penn State Altoona from the first round of the AMCC Tournament.
The Lady Panthers took the first set 25-16, then fought off Penn State Altoona in the second set by a score of 25-22. Pitt-Bradford wrapped up the match with a 25-5 win in the third set.
Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) led the Lady Lions with 10 digs, adding four kills and two block assists.
Jessica O'Donnell (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) and Moira Corrigan (Havertown, PA/Haverford) each added four kills for Penn State Altoona.
Amanda Hammer (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) recorded a pair of service aces and contributed six kills, and Marina Cotarelo (North Salem, NY/North Salem) posted 15 set assists.
