Penn State Altoona Falls to Franciscan and Penn State Behrend on Friday
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming teams were defeated in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference meet hosted by Franciscan University on Friday night.
The men's team fell 124-76 to Penn State Behrend. The women's squad was topped 57-46 by Behrend and 60-45 by Franciscan.
In the Men's 500 Yard Freestyle, the Lions clinched both first and second place. Christopher Sauder (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) won the event in 5:52.40, and Nick Adcock (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Lower Moreland) placed second with a time of 6:01.38.
The Lions also took first and second place in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke. Benjamin Porter (West Chester, PA/Unionville) came in first with a time of 1:05.59, followed by teammate Jay Wareham (Leesburg, VA/Loudon County) at 1:12.18.
Penn State Altoona notched another first place in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as the team of Dan Fritsch (State College, PA/State College), Keenan Halpin (Bensalem, PA/George School), Robert Sklodowski (Bialystok, Poland/Quince Orchard), and Kyle Huber (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) finished in 1:35.17.
In the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay, Maria Thompson (Altoona, PA/Altoona), Mary Elizabeth McCulloch (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle), Rebecca Fair (Cleona, PA/Annville-Cleona), and Courtney Pinckney (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn College Academy) combined to come in first place with a time of 2:07.18.
Kelsy Lelko (State College, PA/State College) won the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 12:29.55.
In the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle, McCulloch recorded a first place finish with a time of 27.25. Later in the meet, she won the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke, recording a time of 1:15.24.
Thompson won the Women's 200 Yard IM, finishing in 2:34.17.
