Lady Lions Lose 91-44 to Waynesburg; Corrigan Named to All-Tourney Team
11/17/2012 — MEADVILLE, Pa. - In the consolation game of the Greg Richards '08 Memorial Tip-Off Tournament at Allegheny College on Saturday afternoon, Penn State Altoona women's basketball was beaten 91-44 by Waynesburg University in the David V. Wise Center.
Moira Corrigan (Havertown, PA/Haverford) led the Lady Lions in scoring with 10 points and had eight rebounds.
At the conclusion of the game, Corrigan was named to the All-Tournament team. In two contests, she finished with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Allison Edwards (Williamsburg, PA/Williamsburg) added nine points, and Alidia Strouse (State College, PA/State College) led the team with nine rebounds.
The Lady Lions were plagued by 37 turnovers, and Waynesburg pulled away with a big second half.
Waynesburg led by eight in the early stages of the game, but Penn State Altoona battled back to tie the game 23-23 with 5:22 to play before halftime on Edwards' jumper.
But the Yellow Jackets reeled off an 11-1 run during the remainder of the period, leading 34-24 when the teams headed into the locker rooms.
Waynesburg increased its lead in the second half, outscoring Penn State Altoona 57-20.
