Men's and Women's Swimming Teams Defeat Gallaudet, Lose to York
YORK, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming teams each won against Gallaudet University and lost to York College on Friday night.
The men defeated Gallaudet 86-9, and the women won 54-40. York topped the Penn State Altoona men's and women's teams 64-31 and 65-28, respectively.
Benjamin Porter (West Chester, PA/Unionville) posted both of the men's team's first place finishes. He won the Men's 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:10.24, and later topped the standings in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke, clocking in at 1:04.01.
In the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke, Mary Elizabeth McCulloch (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle) finished first in 1:13.05.
Penn State Altoona also got a first place finish in the Women's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay when the squad of Kathryn Deebel (Manchester, PA/Northeastern), Erin Knarr (Portage, PA/Forest Hills), Jennifer Farley (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame), and Courtney Pinckney (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn College Academy) recorded a time of 4:14.24.
For the Lady Lions, the win over Gallaudet marked their first head-to-head victory this season.
