Mount Aloysius Holds Off Lady Lions 64-50
1/9/2013 — CRESSON, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women’s basketball led midway through the first half, but Mount Aloysius College went on a run to take the lead and held off the Lady Lions the rest of the game to prevail 64-50 on Wednesday night.
Tiffany Seasoltz (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) led Penn State Altoona with 15 points and added four assists.
Tamara Thomas (Altoona, PA/Altoona) posted a double-double, grabbing 12 rebounds and scoring 10 points.
Kylie O’Toole (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Trafford) added 10 points and blocked four shots for the Lady Lions.
Penn State Altoona kept pace with the Lady Mounties in a back-and-forth stretch early in the first half. O’Toole’s jumper at 10:08 gave her team a 14-12 lead.
But the Lady Mounties reeled off a 16-2 run to take a 28-16 lead at the 5:06 mark. Mount Aloysius held a 12 point lead at halftime.
Down by 21 points at 15:24 of the second half, Penn State Altoona whittled away at their deficit. The Lady Lions went on an 11-2 run to close the gap to 46-34. The team kept pushing forward, and later, Seasoltz’s layup at 5:58 cut Mount Aloysius’ lead to just 50-43.
But Mount Aloysius responded with a 10-0 run, padding their lead for the final stretch of the game.
Despite the Lady Lions' furious comeback attempt in the second half, they were done in by committing 30 turnovers.
