Lady Lions Struggle from the Field in 56-32 Loss to Misericordia
1/14/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's basketball managed just an 18.6% field goal percentage in a 56-32 loss to non-conference opponent Misericordia University on Monday night in the Adler Gym.
Penn State Altoona held Misericordia to a 32.8% field goal percentage throughout the game and forced 20 turnovers. But the Lady Lions could not overcome their own offensive issues.
Allyson Hoffman (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill) led all players and tied her personal career high with 10 rebounds, adding five points for Penn State Altoona.
Allison Edwards (Williamsburg, PA/Williamsburg) led the squad in scoring with eight points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists.
Tamara Thomas (Altoona, PA/Altoona) contributed four points and nine rebounds for the Lady Lions.
Early layups by Thomas helped Penn State Altoona scratch out an early 5-4 lead by the 13:29 mark.
But Misericordia limited the Lady Lions to just six more points throughout the remainder of the period. The Cougars took a lead and grew it to as many as 16 points late in the first half, holding a 27-13 advantage at the intermission.
The visitors increased their lead to as many as 26 points during the second half.
