Lady Lions Downed 98-51 by La Roche
1/23/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's basketball fell 98-51 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe La Roche College on Wednesday night in the Adler Gym.
Tamara Thomas (Altoona, PA/Altoona) led the Lady Lions with 17 points and eight rebounds. She currently needs just seven boards to set a new all-time record for rebounds for Penn State Altoona women's basketball.
Allison Edwards (Williamsburg, PA/Williamsburg) added nine points and four assists for the Lady Lions.
Alidia Strouse (State College, PA/State College) scored nine for Penn State Altoona.
The Lady Lions got off to a solid start in the first half. Thomas' jumper at 18:34 made it 3-0, and she followed with a fastbreak layup 23 seconds later to make it 5-2.
Strouse scored at 17:33 to put Penn State Altoona up 7-2.
But La Roche regrouped and rallied, going up 8-7 at 15:06 and never looking back. Despite the Lady Lions' success from the field during the first half (the team shot 55.6%), La Roche built a 48-22 halftime advantage.
The Lady Redhawks forced 39 turnovers and scored 53 points off of them. They also picked up the tempo of the game and took advantage of fastbreak opportunities, holding a 32-4 advantage in fastbreak points.
