Hilbert Outshoots Lions, Winning 85-66
1/26/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Hilbert College shot 54.1% from the field, including 6-of-11 from three-point range, in their 85-66 win over Penn State Altoona men's basketball on Saturday afternoon in the Adler Gym.
Jonathan Ross (Columbia, SC/Cross Creek) led the Lions in scoring with 21 points.
Matt Gehret (Altoona, PA/Altoona) recorded his fourth double-double of the year, scoring 14 and grabbing 12 rebounds. He also blocked three shots for the Lions.
Durant Harvin (Baltimore, MD/Franklin) added 11 points and three assists for Penn State Altoona.
Hilbert's shooting was hot from the start of the game. Dan McFarland and Anthony Hodge hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Hawks an early 6-0 lead.
Jordan Kumro's jumper at 12:49 put Hilbert up 20-10, and Trevor Stark's trey at 8:41 made it 28-15.
Later, a Jerame Owens tip-in and a fastbreak layup by Stark increased the visitors' lead to 38-19 by the 5:39 mark.
Penn State Altoona closed the gap to 12 points by halftime, thanks to a Jordan Stiles (Northern Cambria, PA/Northern Cambria) three-pointer and two baskets by Harvin.
Mitch Moyer (Port Matilda, PA/Bald Eagle) made a three at 13:33 of the second half to bring Penn State Altoona to within 11 points, 57-46.
But the Hawks denied Penn State Altoona to come any closer to its lead, buckling down the rest of the way.
