Men's and Women's Swimming Teams Swept in Dual Meet at Hood

1/26/2013 — FREDERICK, Md. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming teams were both defeated in a dual meet with Hood College on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions lost 164-62, while the Lady Lions fell 166-61. Hood took first place in each event on the day.

Keenan Halpin (Bensalem, PA/George School) notched a trio of second place finishes. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, he finished in 23.19. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, he clocked in at 52.35. In the 100 Yard Butterfly, he clinched a time of 57.41.

Maria Thompson (Altoona, PA/Altoona) and Mary Elizabeth McCulloch (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle) recorded two second place finishes each for the women's team.

Thompson was the runner-up in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:05.68. In the 200 Yard Backstroke, she clocked in at 2:25.81.

McCulloch finished the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:16.43, and later, she finished the 200 Yard Breaststroke in 2:54.16.
