Women's Bowling Finishes 27th at Kutztown Invitational
1/27/2013 — READING, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's bowling wrapped up its weekend of competition in the Kutztown University Invitational on Sunday, finishing in 27th place in the three-day event.
On Friday, the Lady Lions were defeated in all six matches, losing to Florida A&M, Howard University, Morgan State University, Coppin State University, Valparaiso University, and Southern University.
Penn State Altoona had another rough day on Saturday, losing six more matches to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (the eventual champion of the invitational), Norfolk University, Stephen F. Austin University, Vanderbilt University, University of Delaware, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
The Lady Lions bounced back to win two out of three matches on Sunday and end the weekend on a positive note. Penn State Altoona defeated Salem International University before falling to Medaille College. In their final match of the day, the Lady Lions beat Salem International once again to seal a 27th place finish.
Shannel Ashby (Philadelphia, PA/Science Leadership Academy) finished with a 931 total pinfall in six games to lead Penn State Altoona.
Brittany Ayers (Altoona, PA/Altoona) had a 908, Taylor Helsel (Altoona, PA/Altoona) bowled an 897, Anthea Isaacs (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) had an 800, and Caroline Dudley (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional) rounded out the group with 447.
