Swimming Teams Each Remain in Fourth After Day Two at AMCC Championships

2/15/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming teams each continue to hold down fourth place in the James E. Longnecker Invitational/Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships at Grove City College after day two of competition on Friday.

Mary Elizabeth McCulloch (Wingate, PA/Bald Eagle) won the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke final on Friday evening, clocking in at 1:11.50 to clinch the victory. The first place is McCulloch's second of the AMCC Championships.

In the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay, the squad of Maria Thompson (Altoona, PA/Altoona), McCulloch, Rebecca Fair (Cleona, PA/Annville-Cleona), and Marie Noonan (Altoona, PA/Altoona) placed third with a total time of 2:05.15.

Thompson later finished third place in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke, clinching a time of 1:03.89 in the finals.

In the Men's 200 Yard Medley Relay, Jonathan Delli Santi (Kenilworth, NJ/Academy for Allied Health Sciences), Benjamin Porter (West Chester, PA/Unionville), Keenan Halpin (Bensalem, PA/George School), and Jay Wareham (Leesburg, VA/Loudon County) combined to place third with a time of 1:42.74 in the final event.

Later, Halpin came in third in the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly, securing a time of 55.27.
