Men's Tennis Defeats Pitt-Bradford 6-3 for First Win

3/22/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's tennis earned its first victory of the 2013 season on Friday night, defeating Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford 6-3 at Procare Fitness.

The match also marked the first career win for first-year Penn State Altoona head coach Doug Simmons.

The Lions took two out of three doubles matches, then won four of six in singles.

The duo of Benjamin Heidorn (Bedford, PA/Bedford)/Sebastian Bonifasi (Dominican Republic/Carol Morgan School) won 8-2 in #2 singles, and the pair of Patrick Albright (York, PA/York Catholic)/Casey Snyder (Altoona, PA/Altoona) won 8-3 in #3 doubles.

In singles, Kevin Bartkus (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) played to a 6-2, 6-3 in in the #1 flight.

Albright was victorious in #3 singles, pulling out a 7-6 (9-7), 7-5 victory.

Heidorn and Bonifasi were triumphant in #5 and #6 singles, respectively. Heidorn battled to a 6-4, 6-7 (10-8), 10-3 win, and Bonifasi overtook his opponent 6-2, 6-0.

The Lions host non-conference opponent Waynesburg University on Saturday, March 23 at 2:00 PM at Procare Fitness.
