Lions Win Third Match in a Row, Topping Pitt-Greensburg 6-3
3/24/2013 — GREENSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's tennis notched its third straight victory and second straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win, defeating Pitt-Greensburg 6-3 on Sunday evening.
The Lions beat the Bobcats in two of three doubles matches.
Kevin Bartkus (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury)/Brian Schultz (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) prevailed 8-2 in #1 doubles, and Casey Snyder (Altoona, PA/Altoona)/Patrick Albright (York, PA/York Catholic) triumphed 8-1 in #3 doubles.
Penn State Altoona proceeded to win four of six matches in singles play.
Schultz and Albright pulled out a pair of hard-fought wins in the #2 and #3 flights. Schultz defeated his opponent 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, and Albright earned a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 victory.
Benjamin Heidorn (Bedford, PA/Bedford) won 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) in #5 singles, and Sebastian Bonifasi (Dominican Republic/Carol Morgan School) followed by taking his #6 singles match by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
Penn State Altoona is next scheduled to host non-conference opponent Thiel College on Tuesday, April 2 at 3:30 PM.
