The second win of the day marked the 300th career victory for Lions head coach Joe Piotti, who is in his 17th year at the helm of the baseball program. Piotti currently holds a 300-317 overall record.
The Lions were led by strong outings from their starting pitchers.

Szmed's single through the left side in the fourth tacked another run on to his team's lead, increasing it to 7-1.
In the fifth, Penn State Altoona made it 9-1 when Tim Norris (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Jordan Swope (State College, PA/Tussey Mountain) brought in a run with a single to center.
