Lady Lions Softball Earns Road Sweep of Pitt-Greensburg

4/8/2013 — GREENSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Altoona softball improved to 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference on Monday with a sweep of conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg at Bobcat Park.

The Lady Lions won 3-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two.

Jackie Smith (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) pitched a complete game shutout in game one, going seven innings and striking out five batters.

Lauren Bove (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) scored on an error in the top of the second to open the scoring, and Brittany Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) later added an RBI single to make it 2-0.

A Pitt-Greensburg error allowed another Penn State Altoona run to score in the seventh.

In game two, the Lady Lions received another complete game shutout in the circle, as Raychel DeArmitt (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) pitched seven innings and struck out 10.

Kelly Chambers' (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) RBI single in the top of the first gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Rebecca Enedy (Portage, PA/Portage) scored on an error, and Lily Glunt (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) drove in a run with her base hit to give her team a 3-0 lead.

Glunt collected another RBI on a single in the seventh.
