4/16/2013 — YORK, Pa. - Penn State Altoona softball was swept by non-conference opponent York College by scores of 6-3 and 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Stadium.
The Lady Lions put three runs on the board in the top of the first inning in game one, but proceeded to give up six unanswered runs to take the loss.

But York countered with two in the bottom of the first, then tied the game 3-3 in the second. A three-run fourth inning helped the home team overtake Penn State Altoona.
In game two, the Lady Lions rallied from a deficit in the seventh but lost in extra innings.
York scored one in the bottom of the first and another in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead.
But Penn State Altoona got two runs across in the top of the seventh, eventually forcing extra innings. Jackie Smith (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) scored on an error, and Kelly Chambers (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) added a sacrifice fly to tie the game 2-2.
The Lady Lions were one half inning away from a win in game two when they scored in the ninth to take a 3-2 lead. Lauren Bove (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) hit a sac fly to center, driving in the go-ahead run.
But the home team got a walkoff, two-run single to take the game and pick up the doubleheader sweep.
