DeArmitt Named AMCC Pitcher of the Week

4/29/2013 — PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Altoona sophomore Raychel DeArmitt (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Pitcher of the Week in softball.

DeArmitt went 2-0 in as many starts last week for the Lady Lions, posting a 0.44 earned run average to help her team go 5-1 and secure the top seed in the AMCC.

In an extra innings win over D'Youville College on Monday, DeArmitt pitched all nine innings and allowed just three hits, two walks, and one run. She also tied a Penn State Altoona softball single game high by recording 14 strikeouts.

On Saturday, DeArmitt threw another complete game victory against Pitt-Bradford, going seven innings, striking out nine batters, and not allowing an earned run.

At the end of the regular season, DeArmitt has a team-low 1.92 ERA and is second on the squad with seven wins. She has struck out 89 batters in 69 1/3 innings pitched.

Penn State Altoona softball hosts the AMCC Tournament this weekend (Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5) at Stewart Athletic Field. The Lady Lions enter the postseason with a 24-10 overall record, including their conference-best mark of 14-4 in the AMCC.
