Eight Lady Lions Picked to AMCC All-Conference Team
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Eight Penn State Altoona softball players were voted to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Conference squad, which was released on Wednesday afternoon.
Named First Team All-Conference were sophomore first baseman Kelly Chambers (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) and sophomore outfielder Alamaria Miller (Muncy, PA/Muncy).
Chambers was the Lady Lions' top hitter this season, batting .373 in 34 games. She led the AMCC in home runs with eight, and she set a new all-time program record for home runs earlier in the season, which currently stands at 18. She was fourth in runs scored (34), tied for third in doubles (10), and third in total bases (77). Her 28 runs batted in was a team-high total, as were her .700 slugging percentage and .440 on base percentage.
Miller hit .365 in 28 games with five doubles, two triples, and one home run while driving in 17 runs. This season, she tied the program's career record for triples with seven. Her .527 slugging percentage is second-best on the team, and her .397 on base percentage is third.
Getting the Second Team nod were sophomore pitcher Raychel DeArmitt (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) and junior second baseman Brittany Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte).
DeArmitt posted the lowest earned run average in the AMCC at 1.88. Her total of nine wins was fifth-most in the conference, and she was also fifth with 96 strikeouts in 78 1/3 innings pitched. She made 14 appearances, including 12 starts, pitching eight complete games and two shutouts while allowing opponents to bat just .196 off of her.
Smith had the third-highest batting average on the team, hitting .362 in 33 games this season. Her 42 hits was the highest total on the Lady Lions, and she was tied for third on her team with 26 runs scored. She was third on the squad in total bases with 45, as well as fourth on the team with a .390 on base percentage.
Earning spots on the Third Team were senior pitcher Jackie Smith (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg), sophomore catcher Lily Glunt (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle), junior third baseman Christina Stathes (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte), and freshman outfielder Clarissa Keller (Spring Mills, PA/Penns Valley).
Smith ranked fourth in the AMCC in wins (11) and third in ERA (2.18). She led her team in appearances (16), starts (14), complete games (12), shutouts (4), and innings pitched (99 1/3). She allowed opposing batters to hit just .213 off of her this year.
Glunt batted .309 in 33 games for the Lady Lions. She was fourth on the team with a .433 slugging percentage and fifth with a .387 on base percentage. Her total of 30 hits was fifth-most on the team, her 42 total bases were tied for fourth, and she tied for third on the squad with three home runs. She also drew 10 walks, second-most on the team.
Stathes hit .293 in 29 games, tying for fourth in the AMCC with four home runs. Her 21 RBIs were third on the team, and her .493 slugging percentage was also third.
Keller played in 32 games, batting .354 to rank fourth in the Lady Lions. She was second on the team in on base percentage (.402), fifth in slugging percentage (.424), and tied for third in runs scored (26). Her 35 hits were fourth-most on the team, and she was second on the squad with seven doubles.
