Information on the 2013 Penn State Altoona Basketball Summer Camps

The Penn State Altoona men's basketball program is hosting a pair of instructional camps this summer. There will be two camps designed for youth participants, while another is a college-level skills clinic.

Men's basketball head coach Billy Clapper will lead each of the camps in Penn State Altoona's Steven A. Adler Gymnasium.

The Little Lion Camp is open to boys and girls from ages 5-7. It will be held on July 22-26, and each session occurs from 1:00 PM-2:30 PM each day. This camp introduces the basics of the game to the participants. They will be instructed on layups, dribbling, passing, shooting form, defense, and teamwork on the court.

The Lion Camp is for boys and girls from ages 8-13 and also occurs on July 22-26. The sessions begin at 9:00 AM each day and run until 12 noon. This camp will focus on skills and building a solid foundation to grow as a player. Each session will devote time daily to team play, hand-eye coordination, competitive drills, and learning to be a great teammate.

The College Skills Clinic is open for student-athletes entering grades 10-12 or post-high school graduates. This session occurs on Saturday, July 27 from 12:30 PM-4:00 PM. The registration period begins at 12 noon. This clinic is designed to provide high school basketball players with the training to advance their skills and prepare them to play at the collegiate level. Participants will have the opportunity to go through an individual workout, a simulated team practice, competitive play, and a classroom session. Coach Clapper will be joined by Penn State Altoona student-athletes in the instruction. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and a workout packet reviewing the day's instruction.
