Men's Soccer Voted Fifth in AMCC Preseason Poll

8/2/2013 — PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's soccer was voted into the fifth spot in Friday's 2013 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.

Penn State Behrend was picked to win the AMCC this year after tying with Medaille College for the regular season championship last season. Medaille ultimately won the AMCC Championship in 2012.

Penn State Altoona finished in fourth place in the regular season in 2012. By year's end, they had posted a 9-8 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the AMCC. Head coach Patrick Taylor returns for his fourth season at the helm of the program.

Named as "Players to Watch" in 2013 for the Lions were midfielder/forward Nick Holland (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) and midfielder/forward Karl Stephan (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional).

Holland scored five goals for Penn State Altoona last season, including a pair of game-winners. His total of 11 points was third-best on the team.

Stephan contributed five goals and three assists for the Lions, finishing second on the squad with 13 points.
