8/30/2013 — LATROBE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's soccer opened its 2013 season with a 5-2 loss against non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College on Friday afternoon.

Allysia Ketchem (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) and Liz Jarvie (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) scored goals for the Lady Lions.

Saint Vincent used a pair of early goals from Abbey Neish and Emily Johns to stake a 2-0 advantage by the 11:37 mark.

But Penn State Altoona made it 2-1 at 22:27 when Ketchem chipped a shot over the goalkeeper off of a free kick. Megan Soo (Loganton, PA/Central Mountain) picked up the assist on the score.

But the Lady Bearcats answered with two more goals before halftime to go into the intermission with a 4-1 lead.

After another goal from the home team made it 5-1, Jarvie notched her first collegiate goal at 66:08 on a direct kick that came in just under the crossbar.
