Lady Lions Split in Day One at Lebanon Valley College Invitational

9/6/2013 — ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team came away from the first day of the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchman Invitational with one win and one loss, sweeping Central Penn College 3-0 before losing 3-0 to host Lebanon Valley.

The Lady Lions cruised past Central Penn 25-4, 25-3, 25-9 in their first match on Friday.

Kristi Batzel (Osterburg, PA/Chestnut Ridge) posted team-highs with 22 set assists and 15 digs.

Emily Baker (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) added 10 digs.

Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) led the squad with eight kills to go along with seven digs.

Amanda Hammer (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) contributed six kills.

Penn State Altoona wrapped up the day by suffering a 25-11, 25-13, 25-13 loss at the hands of Lebanon Valley.

Hammer led her team with five kills in the match, while McDowell had four kills and 12 digs.
