Lions Golf Places Fourth at Penn State Altoona Invitational
9/9/2013 — TYRONE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's golf held its annual fall invitational at Sinking Valley Country Club on Monday. The Lions posted a team score of 319, coming in fourth place out of 11 squads.
Penn State Behrend won the event with a score of 312, while Grove City College and Allegany College of Maryland tied for second with 317.
The Lions' Mackenzie Flasher (Greensburg, PA/Greater Latrobe) posted the lowest score on his team, shooting 77 on the par 72 course. His score tied him for third place individually out of 54 golfers.
Evan Perry (Canton, PA/Canton) tied for 12th individually with a score of 79, the lowest in his two-year career with Penn State Altoona men's golf.
Derek Duttry (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) shot an 80 to tie for 15th place overall.
Brad Swindell (Everett, PA/Everett) finished with an 83, tying for 23rd, and Matt Dillon (Roaring Spring, PA/Martinsburg Central) rounded out the squad by shooting an 87.
Penn State Altoona also fielded a "B" squad, which placed 10th with a score of 368. Brandon Osgood (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) shot an 86 to lead the Lions' second team, while Brock Dillon (Roaring Spring, PA/Martinsburg Central) had an 87.
The men's golf team returns to action on Saturday, September 21 when they travel to compete in the Medaille College Invitational at Glen Oak Golf Course in East Amherst, N.Y.
