Westminster and Weather Plague Men's Soccer in 3-1 Loss

9/11/2013 — NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's soccer lost 3-1 at non-conference opponent Westminster College on Wednesday night. The start of the game was delayed due to thunderstorms passing through the area, then the contest was halted just after the 70-minute mark due to lack of visibility.

After the initial delay, the Titans wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard. Goals by Daniel Bishop and David Osae gave the home team a 2-0 lead by 6:41.

Dan Kennedy (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) cut Penn State Altoona's deficit to 2-1 at 48:18 when he headed in a cross from Garrett Storm (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley).

But 16 and a half minutes later, Westminster's Ethan McCarthy upped his team's lead to 3-1 when he scored following a deflection at the goal.

Play was stopped at the 70:13 mark, putting an end to the game.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ballish (Apollo, PA/Kiski) made four saves for Penn State Altoona in the loss.
