Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight, Beating Medaille 8-1
9/15/2013 — WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Penn State Altoona women's tennis earned its third straight victory on Sunday, defeating Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Medaille College 8-1 at Miller Tennis Center.
The Lady Lions won two out of three matches in doubles play.
The teams of Michelle Colucci (Middletown, NJ/St. John Vianney)/Cassie Yatcilla (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) and Christina Thompson (Baltimore, MD/Mercy)/Rachael Barbush (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) each won 8-4.
Penn State Altoona followed the doubles round by sweeping all six singles matches to win the overall match by a wide margin.
Colucci prevailed in #1 singles 6-4, 6-1. Thompson won 6-4, 6-2 in #2 singles. Yatcilla battled back from a 5-7 loss in the first set of her #3 singles match to win the next set 6-2 and take the tiebreaker 10-4. Olivia Brown (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) posted a 6-3, 6-4 win in #4 singles, Taryn Kramer (Ligonier, PA/Bishop McCort) was victorious 6-3, 6-1 in #5 singles, and Barbush played to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph in #6 singles.
