Women's Volleyball Wins Pair at Baptist Bible Tri-Match



9/21/2013 — CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's volleyball defeated Baptist Bible College 3-1 and the University of Scranton 3-2 in a tri-match on Saturday.

The Lady Lions lost the first set 29-27 to Baptist Bible before bouncing back to sweep the next three by scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-13.

Kristi Batzel (Osterburg, PA/Chestnut Ridge) tallied 47 set assists for Penn State Altoona and added 15 digs.

Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) had 16 kills and 16 digs, while Becky Britton (Northern Cambria, PA/Northern Cambria) and Moira Corrigan (Havertown, PA/Haverford) posted 10 kills each.

Emily Frye (Etters, PA/Red Land) had 20 digs, Emily Baker (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) made 18 digs, and Sarah Seibert (Stoystown, PA/North Star) contributed 16 digs.

Against Scranton, Penn State Altoona won the first two sets 25-22. But Scranton won the next two 25-22 and 25-18 to tie the match. In the tiebreaker, the Lady Lions prevailed 15-10.

Batzel had 34 set assists and 14 digs.

McDowell recorded 17 kills to go along with 13 digs.

Amanda Hammer (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) posted 15 kills.

Baker totaled 37 digs, while Frye added 10 digs.
