Lady Lions' Lead Overtaken by Medaille
9/28/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's soccer led 1-0 after an early goal, but Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Medaille College scored twice in the second half to grab a 2-1 win on Saturday at Spring Run Stadium.
Allysia Ketchem (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) netted her fifth goal of the season at 12:07 to put Penn State Altoona on top 1-0.
Medaille came up with the game-tying goal at 66:33 when Candis Kapuscinski maneuvered around her defender, then beat the goalkeeper in the box to make it 1-1.
Jordan Kowalski put the Lady Mavericks up 2-1 at 72:51 when she placed the ball into the top left corner of the goal on a direct kick.
The Lady Lions had several scoring chances late in the period, but they were unable to convert any of them into goals.
Penn State Altoona outshot Medaille 15-7, including a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. They also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Mackenzie Strubhar (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) made three saves for the Lady Lions in the loss.
