Early Deficit Dooms Men's Soccer as La Roche Wins 5-2
10/1/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona men's soccer dug itself a hole early in Tuesday night's game at Spring Run Stadium, allowing Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe La Roche College to take a 3-0 lead by the 15:24 mark. The Redhawks went on to win 5-2.
Chad Trozzi, Bryan Weimerskirch, and Tyler Irwin scored goals in a six-minute, 20-second span to put the visitors on top.
Garrett Storm (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) got Penn State Altoona on the board at 16:36 when he headed Dan Kennedy's (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) corner kick into the net.
But the Redhawks scored twice more in the period to up their lead to 5-1 at the half, getting tallies from Yousef Barqawi and Trozzi.
At 65:35, Kennedy recorded his second assist of the game when he set up Quinn Oyler's (Chamberburg, PA/Chambersburg) goal.
But the Lions' early deficit proved to be too much to overcome, as La Roche staked out the victory.
