Six Lions Score in 6-0 Rout of Bearcats
10/3/2013 — LATROBE, Pa. - Six different players scored for the Penn State Altoona men's soccer team in a 6-0 shutout of non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College on Thursday afternoon.
The Lions peppered the Bearcats with shots, holding a 23-10 advantage in total shots and a 15-4 lead in shots on goal.
Penn State Altoona took a 1-0 lead at 9:20 when Logan DeNicola (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) scored.
Quinn Oyler (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) made it 2-0 at 27:57 when he dribbled the ball into the box and beat the keeper in a one-on-one situation.
Chris Miller (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) increased the Lions' lead to 3-0 before halftime when he beat two defenders and scored at 37:21.
At 60:15, Cody Beach (South Williamsport, PA/South Williamsport) beat the keeper on a shot off of a rebound for Penn State Altoona's fourth goal of the game.
8:35 later, Chris Beech (White Oak, PA/McKeesport) capitalized on a rebound and scored to make it 5-0.
Christopher Learn (Elkland, PA/Williamson) capped the scoring at 86:53, burying a shot following a corner kick.
The goals by Miller, Beech, and Learn were the first tallies of their collegiate careers.
Aaron Ballish (Apollo, PA/Kiski) made four saves to record the shutout, clinching his second win of the season.
