Women's Bowling Splits With Salem International in Season Opener




10/4/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team opened its season on Friday at Pleasant Valley Bowl, recording one win and one loss against Salem International University.

Salem International narrowly defeated the Lady Lions 1481-1476 in the first half of the day's competition, which was a team match.

Brea Suchonic (Butler, PA/Butler) was the top bowler for Penn State Altoona in the first match, averaging 167 in two games (170 and 164).

Abbi Noel (Altoona, PA/Altoona) had the high score in the first match when she bowled a 183 in the first game. She averaged 164.5 after the second game, in which she finished with 146.

The second half of the event was a baker match, which Penn State Altoona won 872-837.

Chelsea Ritts (Altoona, PA/Altoona) bowled the best-of-seven series for the Lady Lions and clinched a win after six games. She averaged 145.3 per game in the baker match with a high score of 155, which occurred in the fifth game.
