Women's Tennis Outdueled by Franciscan
10/5/2013 — STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - Penn State Altoona women's tennis lost 7-2 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Franciscan University on Saturday afternoon.
Franciscan swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead in the early stages of the dual match, then the Lady Barons proceeded to win four out of six in singles.
Michelle Colucci (Middletown, NJ/St. John Vianney) won in #1 singles for Penn State Altoona 5-7, 6-4, 10-8.
In #3 singles, Cassie Yatcilla (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) played to a 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 victory.
Penn State Altoona's final match of the regular season on Sunday will be an important one for playoff seeding. The Lady Lions face Pitt-Greensburg at 1:00 PM at the Adler Tennis Courts, and the winner will lock up the fourth seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament, while the loser will be the fifth seed. The fourth seed will earn a home match in the first round of the playoff tournament, while the fifth seed will have to travel.
