Lady Lions Shut Out Mount Aloysius 3-0
10/15/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's soccer picked up an important Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory on Tuesday night when they defeated nearby rival Mount Aloysius College 3-0 at Spring Run Stadium.
Both teams had scoring opportunities throughout the first half, but it was Penn State Altoona that converted first. Liz Jarvie's (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) long shot deflected off of the crossbar and came to Allysia Ketchem (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg), who buried the rebound to put the Lady Lions up 1-0 at 41:16.
The goal was Ketchem's 30th tally in her four-year career with the team.
Penn State Altoona controlled the pace of play in the second half, outshooting Mount Aloysius 5-0 in the period -- part of a 15-5 advantage in total shots attempted throughout the game.
Ketchem set up an insurance goal for her team at 75:39, getting the ball to Sarah Kramer (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) on the left side of the goal. Kramer scored to make it 2-0.
Just 40 seconds later, Daijanae Greene (Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow) streaked down the left side of the field and fired a shot into the back of the net to put Penn State Altoona up 3-0.
Mackenzie Strubhar (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) made three saves in goal for the Lady Lions for her second shutout of the season.
