Women's Bowling Wins Three at Kutztown Invitational


10/20/2013 — READING, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona women's bowling team competed in its first invitational event of the season on Saturday and Sunday, playing in the Kutztown University Fall Baker Invitational at Berks Lanes.

On Saturday, the Lady Lions posted a 1-5 record in six baker matches. The team's lone win came over Cheyney University by a score of 680-468, and the squad finished 11th place in total pinfall at the conclusion of the day.

Brea Suchonic (Butler, PA/Butler) had the highest average for the Lady Lions during the baker games with a 16.90 per frame average. Her total pinfall was 811 for 48 frames.

On Sunday, Penn State Altoona won two and lost two in the team format, finishing in seventh place at the end of the day's matches. The Lady Lions' victories came over Salem International University (888-800) and Coppin State University (819-810).

Kelsey Ryan (Delran, NJ/Holy Cross) bowled the team's high game of the day with 221. She averaged 176.60 per game.

Abbi Noel (Altoona, PA/Altoona) posted the next-highest average for Penn State Altoona on the day at 174.80.

The Lady Lions' next event is a dual match against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Medaille College on Saturday, November 2 at 1:00 PM.
