McDowell Named AMCC Player of the Week for Third Time This Season
10/21/2013 — PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's volleyball's senior middle hitter Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) received another accolade to highlight her superb 2013 campaign when she was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week on Monday.
This is the third time this season that McDowell has been named the AMCC's Player of the Week.
McDowell put up more big numbers for the Lady Lions in a 2-1 week against AMCC opponents. The senior tallied 40 kills (3.64 kills per set), 45 digs (4.09 digs per set), and eight total blocks (.73 blocks per set) during a week in which her team posted road wins over La Roche College and D'Youville College.
In addition, McDowell recorded a double-double in the win over La Roche with 11 kills and 20 digs, as well as another double-double in a loss to Hilbert College with 15 kills and 17 digs.
In the AMCC, McDowell is currently ranked first in hitting percentage (.347) and in kills (3.31 kills per set).
