Men Place Fifth, Women Finish Sixth at Westminster Relays
10/25/2013 — NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State Altoona men's and women's swimming teams competed in the Westminster College Relays on Friday evening. The men's squad came in fifth place out of five teams with a score of 46 points, while the women were sixth out of six with a score of 14.
The best performance for the men's team came in the 400 Yard IM Relay, when the squad of Benjamin Porter (West Chester, PA/Unionville), Jay Wareham (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County), Kyle Huber (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove), and Alex Fisher (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) combined to record a time of 3:57.41 to take third place.
On the women's side, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay proved to bring the best finish of the night, as Sydney Mrozinski (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks South), Autumn Henderson (Okinawa, Japan/Kadena), Devan Sponsler (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), and Ashley Nero (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) placed fifth with a combined time of 1:56.16.
Next up for the Penn State Altoona swimming teams is a meet at Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, November 2 at 1:00 PM.
