Lady Lions Top Pitt-Greensburg 3-1


10/30/2013 — ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's volleyball defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg 3-1 on Wednesday night in the Adler Gym.

The Lady Lions improve to 7-0 on their home court and boost their AMCC record to 5-3.

Mariah McDowell (Morrisdale, PA/West Branch) led all players with 16 kills, hitting at a .375 clip, to go along with seven digs and one solo blocks.

Amanda Hammer (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle-Antrim) had 14 kills for Penn State Altoona with an attack percentage of .346.

Kristi Batzel (Osterburg, PA/Chestnut Ridge) put up 38 set assists.

Emily Baker (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) contributed 10 digs, and Emily Frye (Etters, PA/Red Land) had eight digs.

Penn State Altoona wraps up conference play on Saturday with a trip to face Pitt-Bradford at 1:00 PM.

Notes: McDowell, the Lady Lions' senior middle hitter, was honored in a pre-match ceremony for Senior Night. The match also marked the team's annual Pink Night; all ticket proceeds and basket raffle money are donated toward the fight against breast cancer.
